The Haunting

Lee-Fendall House is a 1785 Alexandria museum house with Civil War hospital history and layered Lee, Fendall, enslaved-community, medical, and social-history interpretation. Its ghost stories include a woman in period clothing, a woman and child on the back stairs, and the sound of an old telephone.

Philip Richard Fendall built the house in 1785. During the Civil War, Union forces used the property as Grosvenor Branch Hospital from 1863 to 1865; today the museum presents more than 200 years of Alexandria history rather than only Lee-family associations.
