The Haunting
Nanteos Mansion is an 18th-century Welsh country house near Aberystwyth, now operating as a country-house hotel and events property. Its ghost lore is unusually crowded, with stories of a Grey Lady on the staircase, a harp player in nearby woods, a drowned man near the lake, a sad boy in the stables, and voices or footsteps inside the mansion.
The official Nanteos history says the mansion stands on the site of an earlier manor and that construction began in 1739 under Thomas Powell, with completion under Reverend William Powell in 1752. The estate remained a Powell family home for about 180 years and later suffered decline before a major restoration. It reopened in 2012 as Nanteos Mansion Country House Hotel.
